Benefits of our Coalition

Networking

The NC CEAL coalition meets monthly to discuss various health related topics, share updates across organizations, and provide insights of the needs in regions across the state. These spaces are well suited to get to know public health efforts taking place in North Carolina and to meet others who may be close to you who are working towards similar goals.

Education and Professional Development

NC CEAL hosts several webinars and speakers to provide education and information on the emerging health issues and the research process. One of largest objectives is to share science backed information, and this is a great way to learn about up to date research on conditions or policies that may affect your communities.

We also provide specific project that aim to improve the way that community based organization leaders interact in the research enterprise. We collaborated with Community Campus Partnerships for Health to develop the Research Leadership Academy. This is a program that offers modules to deepen the capacity for community leaders and organizations to design and engage in the research process.

Community Grants

Throughout our years of operation, NC CEAL has provided grant funding to different community-based organizations across the state to bolster public health efforts. These offerings have evolved with time and currently, our Research Leadership Academy, provides an opportunity to participants to receive funding for projects developed through the program.

In 2024-2025 cycle of the program, the focus was on Long COVID and issues that intersect with disease such as mental health and comorbidities. Grants were distributed in early 2024 and supported a wide range of community-engaged activities.
