Healthy Living Anson
Healthy Living Anson is a community-engaged research project that seeks to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables by providing frozen healthy meals and dietary counseling provided by community health workers to adults with or at risk for a chronic disease. Participants will either start in a food and nutrition group or a physical activity group that includes education and low impact exercises.
In Anson County, 19.3% of the population (3.91k out of 20.2k people) live below the poverty line, a figure higher than the national average of 12.5%. Healthy food resources are limited, with only two grocery stores serving the entire county.

Research Leadership Academy
The Research Leadership Academy (RLA) is a course for community leaders and organizations to deepen their capacity to design and conduct research, partner with academics, and act on research as a transformative component of addressing local health priorities.
RLA participants will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills related to research design, research methods, partnerships, program evaluation, data, and the culture and systems of academia. Through monthly workshops and peer learning spaces, RLA participants will work alongside subject matter experts and each other to develop ways to apply what they learn to the work they do in their communities.

Nutrition Equity & Security for BIPOC Youth
The Nutrition Equity and Security for BIPOC Youth project is a study that aims to learn about the nutrition/food insecurity that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) girls and young women are experiencing in North Carolina, to determine ways to address challenges. The study focuses on Edgecombe, Cumberland, Duplin, and Robeson County, two rural and urban counties in North Carolina that are faced with a larger percentage of food insecure youth when compared to the state average. This study will use concept mapping to answer the question: What influences your ability to get & eat healthy food?
The hope is to highlight the lack of research centering the voices of BIPOC adolescents and young adults experiencing nutrition/food insecurity, especially in rural settings, we hope that by highlighting their voices, future nutrition/food interventions will be more meaningfully informed in these communities
